George G. Rodgers, 99, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at his daughters home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Theda I. (Anstine) Rodgers to whom he was married for 63 years.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with Pastor Steve Schmuck officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Prior to the service there will be a viewing from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.

 

Born November 25, 1925 in Dover, George was a son of the late George and Myrtle (Shellenberger) Rodgers. While in High School, George decided to serve his country and joined the Army and fought in World War II. In his time there, he received a World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Mr. Rodgers worked as a Shop Foreman for McCrory Distribution. George was a member of the Red Lion American Legion Post 543, Red Lion VFW Post 1446, and the Red Lion Elks Club. In his free time, George enjoyed hunting, trout fishing, and most importantly he loved spending time with his family.

 

Mr. Rodgers is survived by his daughter, Linda Leber (Tara); a granddaughter, Tina Powers (Bobby); two great grandsons, James D. Shoff (Kylie), and Jacob T. Shoff; two great great grandchildren, JR Shoff, and June Shoff; two sisters, Evelyn Smith, and Marian Speck; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Rodgers is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tonya Leber; and four siblings, Esther, Harry, Woodrow, and Peg.
