BROGUE – Wilbur V. Posey, 93, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Doris A. (McKinley) Posey.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A viewing will be held from 9-11:00 AM Saturday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bethel U.M. Cemetery with a flag folding detail from York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born May 20, 1929 in Woodbine, a son of the late William and Edna (Pomraning) Posey; he was a 1947 graduate of Lower Chanceford High School. Mr. Posey then joined the US Army and honorably served following WWII. He then attended York College prior to beginning his career with Caterpillar, Inc. Mr. Posey was a member of Brogue Lions Club, Red Lion VFW and American Legion, York Co. Beekeepers Assoc., and was a founding member of SOYOCO Camping Club. Wilbur had also served as a Boy Scouts of America Councilman and in his spare time enjoyed making homemade wine.
Mr. Posey is survived by four sons, Jerry W. and wife Penny Posey of Felton, Kerry A. Posey of Brogue, Larry E. Posey of Dillsburg, and Daryl E. and wife Tina Posey of Airville; two daughters, Darlene A. Speck of Brogue and Stephanie A. Posey of Dillsburg; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a brother, Dale Posey of Brogue; and two sisters, Betty Hanson of Aberdeen, MD and Eva Swartzbaugh of New Bridgeville. He was preceded in death by a son, Wendell R. Posey; a granddaughter, Alie Rae Posey; and 12 brothers and sisters.
