Sheldon F. Rider, 81, passed away Monday, January 23, 2023 at his home. He was the husband of Darlene M. (Coeyman) Rider to whom he was married for 59 years. A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A viewing will be held from 9-10:00 AM Saturday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salem Community Cemetery with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born January 3, 1942 a son of the late Oscar F. and Ruth V. (Herman) Rider, he was a 1959 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. Mr. Rider was a self employed truck driver for 45 years and while in retirement worked at Apple Ford in Red Lion for 10 years. He was a member of Dallastown American Legion and Red Lion VFW. Sheldon was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps and was part of the Bay of Pigs Cuban conflict. In addition to his wife, Mr. Rider is survived by two daughters, Lori Hubler and husband Jeff of Windsor and Lisa Dewees and husband Doug of Red Lion; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Erin, Taylor, and Connor; four great grandchildren, Kya, Keagan, Kolt, and Dalton; two sisters, Shelby Cunningham and husband James of York and Crystal Nispel of Red Lion; and a brother, Steven Rider and wife Teresa of Red Lion. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Hubler; a sister, Mary Grove; and a brother, Shannon Rider.
